We are writing to let you know we have decided to cancel the 2020 Connected Learning Summit given the continuing uncertainty about the COVID-19 pandemic, and MIT’s decision to close the campus for summer instructional activities. We are particularly saddened to take this step at a moment when innovations and equity in connected, playful, and digital learning are more relevant than ever. We hope you are staying safe and well, and are heartened to see our community stepping up to offer resources and support to those unexpectedly pushed to digital and online learning, and struggling with the impact of doors closing on our place-based institutions.

In consideration of all who submitted papers and proposals, we completed the review process, and the outcomes of the reviews were communicated today. All accepted papers and proposals are invited to present at CLS2021, and research papers will be published in an abbreviated CLS2020 proceedings. We do not yet have a location or dates decided for CLS2021.

We are not planning to hold a virtual summit this year. Our community’s resources are stretched and focused on pressing needs. We feel we could not do justice to the social connection and networking that is at the heart of CLS. That said, we are open to supporting efforts to organize digital meet-ups or other forms of virtual connection in lieu of our annual event. We welcome your ideas and initiative. Please also let us know if you have new initiatives, mobilization, and research that you would like to share with the Connected Learning Alliance via our blog or newsletter.
